Winner of the Tony Award as Best Play, this theatrical Valentine is a 35 year chronicle of a husband and wife beginning on their wedding night in 1890. They fret and quarrel, laugh and cry and make love in the same room in which they began their married life. And through the years is the old four poster, a silent witness to all their memories.

Perfect Date

One of my friends had a really good date – she just had to write about it …

Peace and Blessings,We were strolling along and out of the corner of my eye I saw this beautiful dress. It was a yellow dress! I couldn’t believe it. A real, live, sexy, solid yellow dress! No flowers, no ugly shape! We went into the store and there it was. The dress I have been looking for since 2004. It was wub.gif at first sight…until I looked at the price tag. I told my date sadly, “lets go…I never buy things that expensive…its just too much.” sad.gif My date stopped me and looked into my eyes. “I said get whatever you want. I can tell you have been wanting this for a very long time. Here, take a size 6 and a size 4 and go try it on Beautiful.” So, I tried it on and OH MY GOD! ohmy.gif I absolutely had to have it. My date handed over the Mastercard and with one swipe it was mine. I am think I am in love with this person.Anyway, we finish eating and start talking. Conversation got deep real quick. We talked about something I struggled with last week, we talked about someone else I had my mind on, (believe it or not…we are honest with each other like that), and we even talked about my crazy *** family. I don’t like doing that but my date made me feel comfortable talking about them. We lost track of time and almost arrived late to the movie!Yes, I went out on a date today. I was gone all day. Left my house at about 3:00pm and didn’t get home until 9:00pm. I came back early because my date treated me like a lady and did not want me out at all hours of the night. When I got home though, I invited my date in. *whispering: my date is still here while I type this* Anyhow, we went to the mall

and I had to grab some stuff for my Grandma. My date was very kind and patient with me. Didn’t complain at all. Then my date surprised me and told me to get whatever I wanted for myself before we went to the movies.

So, we dropped $100.00 on that dress. (this is a lot to me, I usually pay around $20.00 for a dress…$30.00 is pushing it!) My date kindly suggested we find jewelry and shoes to go with this beautiful yellow dress. Dropped about $40.00 on that. But my date was not finished yet. I figured after the jewelry and the shoes we would go and get the movie tickets and then sit down and have dinner

. Nope, my date said, “well Lillian, you said you needed some sweats for when you work out and pick your grandmother up in the morning…lets go get some.” See why I am in love yall? wub.gif

We picked up some sweats, a hoodie, and a little sports jacket for me, put the stuff in the car and then headed to the movies. We got the tickets for that movie 300 and then went to Johnny Rockets for dinner. I had a strawberry banana shake, which I sipped from in the most sexy way possible because I am flirtatious like that when I am on a date. I could tell my date was getting a little warm from the way I was drinking that shake. (you had to be there to understand) The jacket came off. We were looking into each other’s eyes. I swear…if I wasn’t celibate… winkiss.gif

The movie was so good I didn’t flirt with my date while I was there. We laughed and almost cried. It was definitely worth seeing in the theaters.

So, after shopping, dinner, and a movie here we are. I tried the dress on with the shoes and jewelry because she asked me too. Yeah, my date was a woman. A sexy, chocolate woman. My date was me. Oh, you didn’t think some dude would take me on a date like that did you? huh.gif Silly rabbits. laugh.gif

I just had another lovely day by myself. I enjoyed it.

Aja Restaurant and Bar

Aja Restaurant and Bar

3500 Lenox Rd NE

Atlanta, GA 30326

aja

Aja is part of the Here to Serve Restuarant Group that consists of Strip, Noche, Twist, Shout, Prime, Goldfish, Home, and LOLA. Like the rest of the restaurants in this family, Aja definitely lives up to its trendy atmosphere. With its 10ft brass Budha that arrived straight from Thailand, private seating areas, and delicious food, you and your party are sure to have a great time.

And of course, at night Aja turns into a place where you can let your hair down, do some dancing, and be amongst a good looking crowd. This Saturday, I’m assuming it was Salsa night because the gist of the music was just that…lol. I still had a great time feeling like I was in Miami and everyone was auditioning for “Dancing with the Stars.” I haven’t a clue how to dance Salsa, so I spent my time at the bar with my new Afghanistan friend.

So if you love Salsa and dancing it, I would recommend having dinner at Aja and then Salsa dancing after. Be careful hitting the dance floor because they sure know what they are doing. CHEERS!

vinolibro1Vino Libro- 933 Garrett Street  Atlanta, GA 30316

This hidden gem in Grant Park/East Atlanta is where sophistication meets a cozy environment. This Black-Owned Wine Bar is located in one of Atlanta’s new trendy communities in the Glenwood Park area. During the day, it’s a WiFi accessible place where you can unwind, do some work, or meet up with friends. At night it becomes a great spot to listen to jazz or lounge in a “at home” set up. They offer carefully selected fine wines in spirits ranging from $8 glass of Mont Asolo Merlot, Italy to $17  glass of Hess Cabernet Cuvee, California. Also have an amazing menu which includes Filet Mignon Skewers and Rack of Tarragon Lamb.

This is my new Starbucks, so if you see me blogging on my Iphone or laptop, please do say hello. =)

Cheers.

Eight at Eight

eight

4 SINGLE MEN—- 4 SINGLE WOMEN—1 GREAT DINNER!

THE BEGINNING… In 1998, Eight at Eight Dinner Club had stagnated – its owners were out of new ideas and membership remained consistently low. At that point, Sarah Kathryn Smith, just 22 and a recent college graduate, stepped in, purchasing the failing company and turned Eight at Eight around. She set out to make it the premier dating service in Atlanta. Her entrepreneurial adventure in matchmaking, Eight at Eight Dinner Club, capitalized on an untapped market.

THE CONCEPT – The idea was simple – Four Single Men and Four Single Women meet for dinner at eight o’clock. Members of Eight at Eight meet in groups for an evening of friendly conversation, good food, and the chance to increase their circle of friends over dinner. The Club members are brought together based on age, mutual interest and backgrounds. The relaxed group setting relieves the pressure of one-on-one dates and increases the chances of meeting someone interesting and compatible. Sarah Kathryn and the hostess staff work closely together to choose hip restaurants, match like minds, and make introductions while buying the first round of drinks. We’re the social leaders of the group. Our research involves trying new restaurants, sampling potent potables, and chatting with singles out on the town.

Play Date is alot of fun. I always have a good time when I attend their events. They have events at the most upscale lounges/hotels here in the Atlanta area. Great place to meet other singles and interact in a alternative method. If you love the music, please give thanks to my boy DJ Doughboy and tell him “Single In Atlanta” sent ya. I love him! CHEERS!

P.S. I’m pretty good at Dominoes, so if you see me on the Dominoe table don’t be scared…lol. =)

WHAT IS PLAY DATE? It’s an alternative to the typical night out. We provide a fun and exciting environment where you can eat good food, drink, listen to a variety of music, socialize, and meet great people all while playing games. ALL KINDS OF GAMES- everything from Spades to Chess, Twister to Uno, Monopoly to Taboo, Hungry Hungry Hippos to Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, to Dominoes to Pacman, to Sorry to Chutes and Ladders, and EVERYTHING in between!

Who’s Up For a Date

Posted on 19 August 2008 by Single In Atlanta

Its so sad that its dayum near hilarious. Am I being a bitch or are there any other ladies out there tired of that same dayum line when talking to a man you initial met out? You finally get a phone call from him and this is what he says……..

“How about I just come over to your place, or you can come over to mine. I have drinks over here.”

Is this a joke? Naw fool!!!!!!!!…….I don’t want to do that shit. I just met you!

I know I’ve been out of the dating game for almost 2 years, but do men still ask women out on REAL dates. Like to dinner, a movie, amusement park, lunch, festivals, theater shows, or picnics? Maybe I’m old skool, but I would for once like a man to PICK ME UP from my home, take me to dinner or a social atmosphere, and drop my ass off at home…….lol. Is that to much to ask for?

I have no problem in the future chilling at each others homes, but that should be after we kind of get to know each other, not the 1st date. I’m sorry. Maybe I’m “unknowingly” bougie?
