“Social Networking for Professionals who Happen to be Single” at Prohibition

Posted on 18 July 2010 by admin

prohibition

Jul 21, 2010 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Cost: Payment required – $15 includes: complimentary appetizers, drink specials, and GREAT connections!

Event sponsored jointly by Center for Social Connections and Atlanta’s Upscale Singles. Mix business with fun…have a good time connecting with other sharp professionals who just happen to be single! This isn’t your typical networking event…it’s truly FUN and connections are made for business contacts, strategic alliances, friendships, and MORE! You never know who you are going to meet or who knows someone else they will connect you to!

Just in case you haven’t heard about the city’s latest buzz worthy bar, here’s the scoop: Prohibition is a new “underground” lounge, a swanky Buckhead club, complete with leather couches, fireplace and hand-painted ceilings. Prohibition has the feel of a 1920’s underground speakeasy. It purposefully lacks a sign, and guests can only enter by acquiring the secret phone number and dialing it in an antique London phone booth. This leads to a secret entranceway. While it is not a members-only club, it creates excitement! Bring plenty of business cards and reserve your spot.

After three consecutive years of bringing some of the biggest names and brightest emerging designers to Atlanta, the Atlanta International Fashion Week has become a spectacular event gaining international notoriety.

AIFW has teamed up with the fashion industry’s internationally renowned elite to afford aspiring designers and models the opportunity to network, learn, and enjoy the best that Atlanta has to offer in fashion, style, glamour, and nightlife at various acclaimed venues, night clubs and restaurants. This star-studded affair will be entertaining and designed to benefit local and national charities all in the name of fashion.

Beginning in 2007 at Atlanta’s preeminent exposition center, the Georgia World Congress Center for two years then the luxurious Biltmore in 2009, AIFW remains to be at the center point of fashion in Atlanta and the must attend event. AIFW has showcased the catwalk favorites of

Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, Juicy Couture, Rock & Republic, Sean John, Ed Hardy, Dereon, True Religion, Akademiks, Apple Bottoms, Ecko, Baby Phat, Rocawear, Phat Farm, and many more.

Atlanta is slowly becoming an epicenter of fashion with AIFW bringing it to the forefront on a global level.

The Atlanta International Fashion Week is bridging the gap and connecting continents through fashion and entertainment with national partners such as the Brand Atlanta, World Fashion TV, Mercedes Benz, Comcast, Paul Mitchell, GIANT Magazine, Dolce and more, along with international partnerships with countries such as Africa, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, India, and Europe.

Brand Atlanta commends AIFW for its commitment to Atlanta’s fashion and design community as well as its promotion of women’s health issues. Many AIFW events demonstrate the organization’s dedication to economic development and promotion for the city of Atlanta. “This event supports the growth of Atlanta’s local fashion and creative industries,” says Sonya Moste, director of Marketing at ADA and interim marketing executive for Brand Atlanta. “Fashion Week is about economic development and raising Atlanta’s profile.”

Atlanta International Fashion Week was created to provide a centralized platform for American designers that seek to become players in the global fashion business. This celebrity-studded affair will impress and excite partygoers and addicts alike.  It is set to become a marquee event attracting over 3,000 plus industry insiders, buyers, retailers, celebrities, VIPs and members of the regional, national and international press.

Atlanta International Fashion Week is designed for consumers and business owners who thrive on what’s hot in the ever-evolving worlds of Fashion and Entertainment.  Each day of AIFW will offer intense, highly informative, and entertaining workshops and fashion related courses within Pretty Academy.  In addition, each night of AIFW will provide participants with the opportunity to make key industry contacts and linkages at one of our lavish dinners and networking events. These networking opportunities simply cannot be missed. Two gala events will also set AIFW apart as a truly exceptional experience. First, on July 13th, AIFW Opening ceremony will feature a keynote address from a major innovator within the fashion industry and culminating on July 18th, with a ceremony honoring fashion icons and moguls as part of the Fashion ICON Awards and Gala.

Atlanta International Fashion Week is dedicated to showcasing Atlanta’s elite designers and models in the fashion industry. This week, full of fun-filled events exemplifies your dedication to the economic development for the City of Atlanta. I commend Atlanta International Fashion Week for your commitment to Atlanta’s fashion and design community, says Mayor Shirley Franklin.

In producing AIFW, the Atlanta Fashion Network plans to shape fashion and style by displaying what Atlanta has to offer in fashion to the world.

Atlanta is known to be a chief influence and birthplace of numerous mainstream musicians and genres, however it is the goal of AIFW Director, Paula Whittle, to have Atlanta recognized as an emerging fashion capital.

She says: “Atlanta is known as a music Mecca, but is now becoming a site for fashion stimulus, and can now play a major role in the fashion arena and gain international recognition. I want to bridge the two to create a powerful, innovative convergence.”

Atlanta International Fashion Week will bring together hundreds of the brightest stars in fashion and entertainment for a week of fun designed to both raise funds and heighten awareness of issues facing today’s communities.

Come to Atlanta to experience the convergence of the most powerful ideas and most powerful network.

From Tuesday to Sunday, you’ll be immersed in actionable learning and profitable exchange.

beauty_24

Laretta Houston is recognized among her peers to add a new dimension to photography. Her photos have been internationally critically acclaimed, and are the primary perpetrators to have launched some of today’s more recognized top fashion models. No matter who is on the receiving end of her message, this eloquent shutterbug keeps a quite and private life and allows her photos serve as her voice. This Atlanta artist has focused her lens on a variety of projects that tantalize visually even the shrewdest of consumers. Added to her list of accolades is a photo she shot which graces the cover of a newly released author whose publisher sought Laretta’s talent out all the way from Japan.

Currently, Laretta has received numerous awards for her photography like “Postcards of Atlanta” put on by ACP (Atlanta Celebrates Photography); her work has been incorporated into the media strategies including Hip Hop recording artist Lupe Fiasco, Click Model Agency out of Atlanta and shooting models from several large modeling agencies such as Ford Models, Boss Models, Red Models and Identities in New York City. You can also see her work in “OBVIOUS Magazine” spring 2008 first issue and Epic Magazine Winter 2008 issue. She has also did some media work for Disney and Ringling Bros. also.
